Delectable, light, and buttery biscuits with just a hint of honey. Sign me up!

Hello everyone! Sorry about the lack of posts. I was at the beach last week which was wonderful!! We stayed in this cute little blue beach house and I was awoken by the soft sound of the waves just a matter of feet from out back steps. I am very grateful to have gotten to go on a trip like that. Sometimes trips like this can be taken for granted.

Back to the recipe! Today I have for you these amazing honey-butter biscuits which I know you will love because they have just the right amount of that desired airy and buttery biscuit texture and flavor accompanied by the hint of honey. They’re perfection. I say hint of honey because I didn’t want to overwhelm the palette with a blast of honey like a lot of biscuits you would buy. I wanted them to have a hint or shadow of honey flavor, that way you can add honey it it yourself so you can have however much honey flavor you want.

One of the things I love most about biscuits is how easy they are to make! You just combine the dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl then you cut in the butter and fold in the buttermilk! Now all ya do is roll the dough out and cut it using a biscuit cutter or knife/pizza cutter. Now it’s time to make them! But first you must brush the biscuits with butter to add extra butter flavor and give them that nice golden brown color.

Once they’re baked brush them with honey butter then serve those bad boys up! I prefer to serve my biscuits warm because that just makes them even more delectable!

And here is the recipe!!

Homemade Buttermilk Honey Butter Biscuits.

...

Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ cup vegetable shortening
  • ½ cup 1 stick unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1 cup buttermilk or 1 cup of whole milk with 1 Tablespoon of vinegar
  • 1/4 cup butter half a stick, melted
  • 2 Tablespoons honey

Instructions

  • To make the biscuits
  • Preheat oven to 400ºF. Line a large cookie sheet or jellyroll pan with parchment paper or a silicone baking pad; set aside.
  • In a large bowl whisk together the flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda. Cut in the shortening and butter until the mixture becomes crumby.
  • Fold in the buttermilk. Once it’s somewhat mixed in I like to go in with my hands to bring the dough together.
  • Once the dough comes together, turn it out onto a floured work surface and roll the dough into a large rectangle about ½ an inch thick. Using a biscuit cutter, cut the dough and place the biscuits on the prepared sheet leaving a good amount of room between each biscuit. You may have to bake them in 2 batches.
  • Before baking the biscuits, brush them with some of the melted butter reserving some butter for after baking.
  • Place the biscuits in the oven and bake them for 12-14 minutes or until lightly golden brown.
  • Once the biscuits are baked, add the honey to the reserved melted butter and brush the warm baked biscuits with the mixture and enjoy!
  • Biscuits will stay fresh for up to 5 days stored in an airtight container.
