Isn’t spaghetti the first thing everyone learns to make before they haul off to school or work? I’m not talking about fancy make-your-own sauce spaghetti. I’m talking good, old-fashioned spaghetti noodles with jar sauce and hamburger meat. Don’t knock it. You love it. So, my college self is boiling spaghetti noodles like once a week for, I don’t know, three years until our senior year, when my hubby says, “So, spaghetti. Yeah, it’s not my favorite.” WHAT?! I’m on my 157th batch of spaghetti and you’re telling me this now? Naturally, I’m devastated, because spaghetti is a) easy as shit and b) sooooo good. So spaghetti and I had to part ways for a while. UNTIL NOW. This recipe is Marc-approved. Shout out to my sister and my mom, for bringing spaghetti back into my life. They found this recipe on Pinterest (duh) and it originated from Ashley Kaitlin’s blog, Being Grown Up.
Million Dollar Spaghetti
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 large jar of spaghetti sauce
- 8 ounces cream cheese
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 1 cup cottage cheese
- 1 stick of butter
- 1 16- ounce package of spaghetti noodles
- Grated cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Cook the spaghetti noodles according to the instructions on the package, drain them, and set them aside. You can add a little vegetable oil to prevent them from sticking, if desired.
- In a bowl, mix together the cream cheese, sour cream, and cottage cheese until well combined.
- Cook the ground beef in a skillet, season it, and drain any excess fat. Add the jar of spaghetti sauce to the skillet and stir to combine.
- Butter a 9x13 inch baking dish with half a stick of butter.
- Place half of the cooked spaghetti noodles in the baking dish, then spread the cream cheese mixture over the noodles.
- Add the remaining spaghetti noodles on top of the cream cheese mixture.
- Place the remaining butter slices on top of the noodles and then pour the meat sauce over everything.
- Bake the dish for 30 minutes.
- Sprinkle grated cheddar cheese over the top of the dish and return it to the oven for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve with garlic bread and enjoy!
